Paul Andreas Paulsen who was born on 3 January 1854 at Kvankjos, Norway, and was baptized on 27 August in the same year- in Lødingen. He was confirmed at the same place on 13 August 1871, He was a fisherman and farmer and lived', according to the national census of 1 January 1891, at Sommerset in Vågan, Norway, and later at Storfjell in Vågan. He died on 4 May 1898 and was buried on 12 May of the same year- in Vågan.
He was married on 28 December 1875 in Sortland, Norway to Karen Mikkelborg Ellingsen who was born on 14 November 1845 at Sortland, Norway, and was baptized on 1 January 1846 at the Sortland Church. She was named after her father's first wife who died in 1844. She immigrated to the USA with five children during the years 1905 to 1908. The family settled in Utah and Idaho, She died on 9 April 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Paul Andreas, was the son of Paul Mathisen, who was born in 1812 in Vågan, Norway. He was a fisherman, a tenant farmer with life tenure, and a carpenter. He lived, according to the national census of 31 December 1865 and 31 December 1875, at Kvankjos in Lødingen. Paul Mathias married his wife, Inger Iversdatter, 5 September 1852, who was born on 19 May 1830 at Steinbakken in Raftsundet, Hadsel, Norway.
Paul Andreas Paulsen and Karen Mikkelborg Ellingsen had six children.
